I am a volunteer on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway in Cumbria, which runs for seven miles up Miterdale and Eskdale in the English Lake District. I live in the area and have volunteered on the railway very regularly since May 2006. A photo album in the form of a journal of my work is available at cumbria.fotopic.net
I am also interested in the main line railway scene of Cumbria, including the Cumbrian Coast line through Ravenglass. You can also find photos of Northern Rail and Direct Rail Services trains at the above link.
This site was set up in January 2006 in order to showcase my fiction about the railways of Cumbria and their engines, a series which I started in Autumn 2004. To date there have been 15 volumes of four stories each about Cumbrian engines with a supplementary 20 story series about a fictional preserved railway in the region. Two feature-length Christmas specials have also been written, along with a short novel featuring the loco fleets from both series.
I am an avid Railway Series fan and am currently working on an OO gauge model of Ffarquhar station, also known as the home of Thomas the Tank Engine. My OO gauge loco stud also includes several characters from my stories, namely City of Carlisle and Scafell Pike, along with the No. 1 engine himself (in LB&SCR E2 form!)
